El Rey is not only Austin first Men’s Spa; it is one of the most elaborate finish outs Pinnacle has completed. The project had the input of several consultants and most notably Austin designer, Victoria Reed. Because the space is on the first floor of a residential high rise, there were numerous mechanical and structural challenges overcome by teamwork and extensive coordination. Our existing deck height was sloped and considerably low as the above occupancy services the parking garage drive. This required three slab pour elevations enabling us to obtain every square inch of head height.
Patrons of the private club enter through 8’ custom iron doors on the first floor of Posh Austin Lofts. The vestibule serves as a retail area highlighted by beautifully finished Alder cabinetry, radius walls, water feature and an elegant reception area. The treatment rooms are access through a faux sidewalk leading to individual treatment rooms with individual designs. The walk is covered with faux brick pavers and each door has its own custom design with many “speakeasy” windows. Each salon room has top-of-the-line equipment surrounded by the latest video technology and custom milled alder stations topped with granite.
Plastered arched window openings allow a glimpse of the limestone walk leading to the lounge and locker room. This is not just a locker room; it is a piece of art. There are numerous types of tile including glass mosaics, limestone, marble and granite; each perfectly detailed around the functioning areas. Atop the massive limestone counters sits a masculine custom mirror accented by torch lighting. Stained Alder wood partitions, lockers and cabinetry combined with antique hardware add strength to the room. And one must mention the custom throne deserving of every King!
The lounge is a combination of elegance, masculinity and diversity. Lounge in a big comfy chair surrounded by elegant floors and hand painted ceilings. Watch sports in one of the many TV’s surrounded by masculine woodwork, or sit at the curved bar resting your arm on the solid wood cap while your cocktail lays on top the sophist acted marble bar top.
