Kreisle Building, originally a three story structure built in the 1870’s was rebuilt as a two story in 1886 after a fire destroyed the entire building. In the late 1960’s and early 70’s, the Army/Navy Surplus operated out of the building. Oscar Snowden Appliances then occupied the building and for the last several years, the structure was vacant.
Each story is approximately 8,000 s/f. The original exterior brick façade was exposed by waterblast process, brick repointed, leaded glass windows restored and the storefront system was rebuilt to replicate the original. Wood flooring throughout the building replaced, brick cleaned, repointed and sealed.
The first floor interior consists of a 5,000 s/f bar, Speakeasy, along with an entrance off the alley. Interior finishes include a combination of stained woods and concrete, carpet, faux, custom lighting and numerous paint textures. The remaining 3,000 s/f is tenant space.
The second floor was “built to suit” for the Austin Film Center, including sound proof viewing and editing rooms and managing offices. High grade wood, lighting and finishes are seen throughout.
Approximately 2,500 s/f of the existing roof was removed and rebuilt for a roof deck and bar. 4 feet wood trusses free span over 40 feet, new roof deck and waterproofing installed. Bar finishes include tile floor, stucco & brick walls, wood and steel trellis and a center fountain.
